Son netted his debut goal in the 6th minute of the first half during an away match against FC Dallas in Round 28 of the 2025 MLS regular season, held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on August 24. It was his first league goal, coming in his third MLS appearance since joining LAFC. Starting as the lone striker in a 4-3-3 formation, Son stepped up as the free-kick taker just six minutes into the match. Though positioned at a considerable distance outside the left edge of the penalty box, he curled the ball with his right foot into the top-left corner of the net, leaving the Dallas goalkeeper with no chance.
