Stocks ended modestly higher on Friday as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq clinched new closing records after a better-than-expected first-quarter GDP reading. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.47% was up nearly 0.5% to end around 2,940. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.31% advanced 79 points, or 0.3%, to end near 26,543, based on preliminary numbers. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.34% rose 0.3% to end around 8,146. The small-cap Russell 2000 RUT, +1.01% climbed 1% to finish near 1,592.
